Self-responsibility and empowerment are the principles that guide this diversified corporate health and wellness professional.

Cynthia (Cyndy) Nayer has dedicated much of her energy and her life to improving the health of people of all ages and fitness levels.

Over the past 23 years, she has developed exercise, fitness and wellness programs to fit a wide range of individual, group and corporate health needs. She has trained aerobic and private training personnel, and she has written and lectured extensively on wellness issues for women and elderly. She has taken leadership roles on a variety of councils and committees concerned with educating and raising awareness of health-related issues.

And that’s in addition to the general health and wellness management and organizational development experience she has accrued over the same time period.

Prior to her consulting career kickoff in 1995, Cyndy was director of community health and fitness education for the Jewish Community Centers Association. For eight years she was responsible for her division of the community center (the third largest in the U.S., serving a variety of family health, wellness, and social needs) budgets, marketing, hiring, staff training and development, and membership drives, among other things. She served as the coordinator between then-Jewish Hospital and BJC Inc. for health education and screenings at the JCCA and select community sites. She also conceived, developed, and co-chaired the Women’s Health Education Network, a consortium of women of all ages that hosts educational programs on women’s health issues. She was awarded the OWL—the voice of Midlife and Older Women’s prestigious Women of Worth Award in 1999 for her work in improving the health of older women.

A frequent guest on television (including Sally Jessy Raphael), quoted source and featured subject in many news articles, Nayer is also asked to coordinate seminars and speak nationally on a variety of topics. She has coordinated two national seminars on managed care and its relation to the Aging network, as well as developed pilots for the National Council on the Aging and one of its sponsors to facilitate dialogue between managed care, delivery systems, and seniors. She has served as lecturer for the St. Louis University Geriatric Summer Institute, the National Council on the Aging, the Missouri Governor’s Council on Aging, Club Industry, and developed training programs for pregnant women (regional hospitals) , for nurses (Jewish Hospital--classes on fitness during pregnancy), and for special populations (special fitness for people with Head Injuries, Arthritis rehab, etc.).

Nayer was asked to assume the Missouri chair position for the National Coalition to Promote Physical Activity (the coalition supporting the Surgeon General’s Report on Physical Activity and Health, created by the American College of Sports Medicine, the President’s Council on Physical Fitness, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta). This dovetailed with her responsibilities as Chair of the Missouri Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Health. In addition, she created the strategic plan for and acts as an advisor to the Missouri Office on Women’s Health.

She is currently Master Elite Personal Trainer, at Wellbridge in St. Louis (an upscale health and fitness facility), developing new programs and providing return-to-fitness programs for healthy and rehabbing individuals. She has developed and trademarked Pilates in the Pool©. Nayer is certified by the American College of Sports Medicine, AFAA, and is a gold ACE member, and has completed Pilates/reformer and mat training, Group Free Motion Training, and certificates in pool, aging, and teen fitness. She is the owner of River City Partnership on Health, Inc., a health marketing strategy and communications company, with primary clients in the pharmaceutical field, managed care, and employer sites. Nayer has been married for 31 years (gasp) to her best friend Stu Nayer, and has two daughters.
